Description
As a community…
• We value diversity of backgrounds. We are a place where people’s lives are slowly healed.
• We don’t care about your neighborhood, your social status or your chosen career. You are welcome.
• Children should be in Church. Their noise is holy.
• We come to church to offer our best possible worship. Our worship is dignified, peaceful and thankful while also being participative; joyous and even contagious.
• We balance patience and tranquility with being driven and intentional. We are going somewhere. Running water.
• We desire to be known broadly within our area for something good and holy.
• We strive for excellence, not perfection, in all things that we do. We prefer to do fewer things well.
• We are able to answer questions about our faith. We are prepared to answer for the hope that is in us.
• We get things done with reasonable efficiency through a structured and organized parish council and collection of ministry teams. We value individual initiative and hope to make our parish a place where fresh ideas can blossom. Our parish council sees itself as co-responsible, under the guidance of the priest, to move our community into the future.
• We are willing to take reasonable risks to express the hope that is us as Orthodox Christians.
• We share and enjoy various ethnic customs. While avoiding nostalgia, we respect our parishioner’s ethnic inheritance and help them to project that inheritance into the future.
